I planted some leaks last year all from the same batch of seedlings brought from the gargen centre, some of them took off well but others maintained a smaller groth. I've come to harvest them now and the tall leeks that begain seeding are good healthy leeks but the smaller groth leeks turned out to be onions?

Dose anyon know how this has happened lol, I'm guessing that it may have just been a mix up of seeds from the garden centre but could there be any other explination as cross polenation?

Mix up in seed or they mixed up the seedlings when put into the pots they were sold in, or mixed up the pots themselves, or someone added a couple of onions to the leeks to make up a pack of 6 (or whatever).

Don't think that they can/will cross pollinate but they are of the same family so could be proven wrong, just it is doubtful, as in very doubtful.

Much greater chance of human error somehere along the line. May not even be error but someones idea of a laugh.
