I've just harvested the last of my broad bean and made broad bean hummus (nod to Hugh FW) from the overdeveloped crop.  (interesting taste, might grow on me!)

I've cut the plants down to about 8" in the hope that they may produce shoots from the base which I can harvest for stir-fries.  I couldn't use the original pinched out tips due to the black fly.  I was just wondering if any one else has tried this and did it work?.

i cut the earliest of mine down to the base today.
Alan titchmarsh's book suggests they may grow a smallish late crop of broad beans with a little luck, so that's what i'm holding out for.

i had a similar experience with the tops the first time around. i didn't fancy the 'extra protein'

I cut my first plants down at the week-end but I'm not sure I want to leave all that space in the hope that the plants might have a second flush later...

oooh didnt know you could do that............... will give it a go with some of mine, but not all as would like the space for some other things
