Hi Peeps,

Just wondering, do I pinch the tops out of my toms like you do on the runner beans? or do I just let them grow and they stop on their own.
dont permissum dandelions frendo vos down.

If it cant be pulled by hand,
1; its not ready
2; use a landrover...

Depends on which type you have. Determinate types will stop on their own, indeterminates will reach for the sky so they need pinching to keep them at manageable height. Regardless, if yours are taller than you'd like and they have enough setting fruit on them, then pinch the tops off.

My rough guide is:

greenhouse - when they hit the roof
outside - 3 or 4 trusses

Oh - and I don't pinch out runner beans!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

we leave ours , we grow harbinger, tango , plum ,  golden sunrise yellow, alicante and tigerella ,

all we do now is pinch out side shoots , feed twice a week and water once a week ,

as the lower trusses ripen we snip the trusses off and snip off to 2 leaves below the next truss , worked for least 5 years ,

we are in deepest darkest east yorkshire

I hate to confess this, but my system's been going for over 44 years, but I did start young!
