Tom problem.
« on: May 20, 2009, 06:40 »
My g/h tomatoes grown in grow bags seem to have a leaf problem. There are a lot of flowers some of which have set. The leaves are curling and gone brittle. They seem healthy in all other respects. Help please.  :(
If all else fails read the instructions.

Have you shaded the greenhouse, toms seem prone to leaf curl. Some times it's also caused by too much fertilizer I think.

Thank you. Sometimes the g/h does hit 80f or above if I'm not around to ventilate. ( Can't afford an auto vent) Or is it a direct sun light problem? If so, how do I shade the toms without cutting down on the light? I know this sounds like a stupid question but is there an easy (cheap) way of protecting the toms from "sun burn"?

80 or even 85 degrees sounds ideal. Have you checked them for greenfly ?

I hang a bit of redundant net curtain on the outside of the greenhouse when it gets too sunny. I tie it on with string.

Coolglass is about £4 a box and should do a 6x8 greenhouse, but you could just do the south facing panes, thats what I do then it goes further.  ;)

Ive got this problem to on a couple of plants that are in direct sunlight in the greenouse. The other that get shade from a bush nearby seem to be ok, so im going to invest in coolglass especially as temps are set to go up in the 80's next week
