Got my rasied beds ready so thought I'd ask around locally for some manure.

Stopped at the stables just up the road and asked if they sold the manure.

'No I don't sell it', he said 'but you can help yourself to as much as you like for free. The pile on the left is new, the one on the right has been there  about a year'

Fab!!
Good beer, good BBQ and good friends.

Horsemuck with straw is miles better than stuff with sawdust or woodshavings.

You should live next to me Aunt sally, they`ve filled thier normal 2 deep storage areas and the freshly removed soiled straw is now being tipped down a slope behind our house and that can`t go on much longer...still we have a hugh and ready supply.I know we`re rural but if they advertised onfreecycle...

No mate, I'd really pile it in.  How about 6 inches (if it has straw).  Leave one bed free of manure tho', that's for your carrot and parsnip.

Some people gather the horse manure out of the field & this is the best stuff.

Reason they do is to break the cycle for intestinal worms.
