Baby Ducklings Advice
« on: June 22, 2009, 15:32 »
Hi,
I'm picking my 2 female welsh harlequin ducklings up on Friday and they will be just under a week old.
My question is how soon can I let them have a run round the garden and a little paddle, I understand that they will need drying off etc until they have their feathers.
They will be kept in the garage under a heat lamp for the first 3-4 weeks but was hoping to let them have a play and swim as soon as possible!

I let mine have a little paddle at 4 weeks old in an old washing up tub. Keep an eye on them though.

I let mine have a paddle from a couple of days. Usually start with a seed tray or cat litter tray. They usually need supervision as they can get chilled very quickly but they love to splash about.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.
