« on: June 18, 2009, 17:06 »
Hi
May sound a stupid question but if you dont ask you never learn.
I have just put some cauli seeds it to some seed trays, 2 seeds per compartment. I am leaving them outside, or i could leave them on the sill in the conservatory, which is right and indeed am i ok putting seeds in trays this late.

Brassicas do not need the warmth outside would be fine.

What variety are they? I'm sowing my spring cutting ones in a few weeks, but they do need a long growing period.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Says "Cauliflower all year round", "popular variety with big heads and good flavour". Sow outdoors march till june. We only got allotment about a month ago, and its not been touched for a fair few years. We are digging and planting as we go. The guy i share with put some cauli and cabbage in and they were eaten by slus or pigeons or something so thought i would give these ago. Cost to much to keep buyiny plants. may have to get more  cabbage and sproout plants though. I bought some slug pellets and netting, better late than never lol

You've nothing to lose. Get them germinated, pot them into 3" pots, grow them onto a reasonable size before planting out.
