Fanfares and much excitement ...

... I have peas coming up on my plot   I know it's not much to some of you, but I have failed miserably with germination of peas for the last two years.

It's still only one or two, and it may remain at just the one or two, but even so ... wahay!!  Ever the optimist here ..  :D

I have 12 up now after three days of 2 or 3 only so there is still hope!  I also this morning have about half a dozen radish seedlings and a similar number of some sort of lettuce, I think lambs lettuce, forgot to look at the marker to tell what it was!  I love this time of year, new stuff sprouting, I call them my babies, maybe my daughter is right and I am a sad and unfulfilled mother!!

I've been labelling every row this year (getting a trifle obsessive about order in the seed beds!!)  It's mainly so I know where I have sown stuff as not every thing isout yet.  I should say too welly that the peas were planted two weeks ago, they cam out a few days ago, the other stuff has been in a fortnight too.  I have noticed that my stir fry mixture is also about to push through, there was a distinct ridge in the soil tonight.

Just been down the plot and spotted my first couple of spring sown pea shoots peeking through and signs of carrots too.

It's just a magic feeling when the seeds you've sown directly decide to reward your efforts, then being able to dare to think of the harvest to come.

I love this time of year.  :)

Well I hope you only spoke kind words to them!!

I have a row of about 14 peas now (should be a lot more than that, hopefully they will also pop up soon), the spinach is pushing through, the lettuce and stir fry are looking good, I may need to start thinning radishes in a day or two and I have some sprouting brocoli just nosing out tonight, but no sign of any carrots, might sow another row tomorow and see if they grow.  I have also put out instant onions, baby ones that hopefully will grow into big red ones.  It looks great with some green in the plot even if most of it is transplanted from a nursery and not home grown.
