How many eggs can you put under a broody hen.

Depends on the hen and the eggs - my maran sat on 6 bantams no problem, and my blackrock is on 11 (was 12 but she threw one out - found the shell in anothers beak, don't know if she broke it when getting up or not it didn't smell or anything and cound find no trace of the yolk), they are all well covered but don't know how many will hatch, these are l/f size. Have never candled them so not sure how theyre doing. Due to hatch tomorrow or monday ish. I had a mishap with this lot in that the door closed to her nestbox so she was shut out for over an hour - time will tell if they are ok.

my hen is a black star and I'm looking to get cream legbar or lavender araucuna eggs can't make up my mind between them.
