my husband informs me some of the fruit look like they have been nibbled they are covered and have put straw in between i suspect mice or rats any ideas how i can pevent this? thought id done enough

Cheeseybobs aka woodlice are partial to a nice strawberry but luckily they prefer slug pellets which cures the problem.

Mice will eat strawbs, so will squirrels, chipmunks and most birds so it could be any or all of these. Not heard of rats going after strawbs but it wouldn't surprise me. This year I'm putting up netting both above the crop and draping over the sides and pegging it down. It might not slow down the mice but it will the others and your damage should be minimal.
