runner beans
« on: May 27, 2009, 12:23 »
Hi.... my runner beans are still in pots but they are starting to get very tall, they have been hardening up now for 5 days should I put them in the soil now as im getting a bit worried if I leave in pots any longer they may snap!! I have got canes in to support them but they are growing quick and my leaves are very big too!!!

Perhaps have a look at

http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/frostrisk.asp

(put your post code in for a local frost forecast) and if nothing shows up (Blue or Red "cones") then you are clear for the next 4 days, or so.  And, fingers crossed, once we are in to June you should be OK.

Personally I am hanging on, these winds are killers, hopefully they will die down in the next week or so. Beans will soon catch up once the weather is better.

Likewise, I have some seedlings that are huge, the coldframe cover has had to be removed completely a couple of days ago.  Trouble is I need to get my backside into gear and finish the Munty frame PDQ so I can plant them out, although I would normally wait until early June.
