cant say never used it ,but guessing its got nitrogen in it of some cort . wg is the  comfry kid  so he best tell ya .as for liquid manure i cant tell ya to go tromping round cow fields collecting cow pats cos u might do it and get  run over by one ...... can i . but i will tell ya what to do with them you want em bone dry  crispy and hard , makes for collecting em easier .wear gloves  and just throw em in a bin bag  take em home n get a dustbin or something similar and drop em in . put 10 in to start save the rest by tying the bag up and putting em somewhere dry . fil the bin full water and let em float a while  when thye is " rehydrated "(  big werd 10 points ) stir em up a bit  and they will start to fall apart and the stuff will start to smell a bit put the lid on after ya stirred em up agin and leave to cook for a month . when ya go back it wil be a loverly golden brown colour and all the mush wil be at the bottom and a nice grreeny tinged head of foam will be there ,, just put a bean tin on a bit wire and use that to pour some in your watering can fill with water and of ya go ........ you can use fresh cow manure to do this  from horses cows  chickens rabbits gerbils and mice might take a while to collect a carrier bag of mice  or germball poop tho .oh and if ya have pigeon racers near ya with lofts . get the muck from them and do the same just dilute it more

On nitrogen, comfrey compares well with manure in all various forms (composted, liquid form).  Where it excels, is in potash (three times).  That's what makes it so good for your tomatoes.

I've no argument with that, KC.  I can't find my other Lawrence Hills book but I do remember that nettles came out very well.  The great advantage being, of course, that you can gather them off of other people's land!

Can someone tell me what to do with nettles then?  We had loads growing on our allotment so I cut them down and covered them over last year. Just incase they come back once I take the carpet off, could I use them as liquid manure?

Yes, put cut nettles into a bucket of water and wait until they stink (and they do).  Use as liquid feed for tomatoes, etc.   You can also strain and use as a foliar feed spray (my strainer is a bucket with hole at bottom, half filled with pea gravel).

Great thanks!  Would I need to dilute that for the tomatoes etc or just use it as it is?  Also, how much nettles per bucket of water?
