The sun is shinning, the birds are singing ( far too tunefull for my ears) and little one has started with the pox    but hey we are going to the plot this afternoon and plant our Swift early spuds, pick some purple sprouting broccoli and a spring cabbage for tea. Spring has sprung.

Seems to be an outbreak of CP at the mo up and down the country.

It seems that it's one of the few things the UK routinely don't vaccinate for....i think the states do but the vaccine is no guarantee that they won't get it but the symptoms are milder i understand.

The best thing for clearing the spots quickly is bicarbonate of soda paste and bicarbonate of soda baths.

For the worst spots mix a thick paste and apply to the spot directly

for the rest add a couple of teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda into the water.

The best thing to keep the itch down is simple moisturiser (non perfumed). Stoke this onto the skin in a one way action (rubbing down the arms not up. Leave the moisturiser on the skin - dont rub in. The cooling action will help alleviate the itch and unlike calomine lotion will not become itchy once it dries.

Keep the kiddies  topped up with paracetamol liquid as well - little ones with temperatures wilt like a delicate flower so make sure they have plenty of fluids and regular paracetamol.

Nobody has any bicarb left lentil - they've used it all to poison rats / mice and to blow up seagulls.

Cheers everyone, we have been through it all before with daughter No.1. Spuds are now in (hurrrahh) thought the day would never arrive, doing the schools spuds tommorow and I have some little gems waiting for planting there too. Cabbage and broccoli was superb, even little poxy legs got stuck into it, its a joy to watch her eat (destroy) food like she does, not even 3 yet and will eat all her fruit and veg and yet will happily leave sweets alone.
