A lot of people still have an implanted memory from the war when it was Kale with everything.

Silly thing is this memory even affects people far too you to have been alive during WW2. I have a friend who said exactly that "Animal feed" until I gave him some leaves and instruction on how not to over cook it, he is now growing Kale.

kale is very good eating if you cook it properly. Boiled to death and served as a lump of mush - no wonder folks don't like it  :D  I like it in a stir fry myself with lots of ginger, garlic, chilli, onions etc but also buttered with sausages, mash and gravy, with wholegrain mustard and lots of black pepper.  The smaller, newer leaves are best for this.  The older leaves can be sliced for hearty soups.

I just popped out and picked up a tub of slug pellets from a local store, they're the mini blue pellets, any good?

I will be dropping by the plot later to initiate phase 1 of 'Operation Blastropod'*

*See what I did there?
We lived for days on nothing but food and water.

yes they are but do take time to read the instructions as you only need to use a few. They attract every slug in the neighbourhood if you use too many and they're a danger to mammals if piled up so go steady  :)

While you have your eyes firmly focussed on sluggy don't forget the pigeons  :D

It's behind you  :D

I dropped by the plot last night to survey the damage, it was slug Armageddon!

I cleared away all the dead ones I could see and buried them, out of reach of the birds etc.

I suspect there are plenty more waiting to pounce.
