I think you should be thoroughly pleased with your efforts, it's v hard when looking after a little one. Half the job is keeping them occupied and not wandering off !

I have a border spade and fork too as it's a bit easier to lif when full.

Even if you are still digging in the middle of summer there's stuff you can plant in autumn, so keep at it.
