Leeks
« on: April 29, 2009, 15:49 »
Don't shout at me I know you are probably sick of leeks.  Just want to be sure mine have been indoors in conservatory and are looking really nice sturdy and about 8" tall on average.

I think its time to harden them off even though they are not yet pencil thick so question is are they hardy can I put them out in the open in a little sun trap sheltered area no protection.  I am using th ewendy house/summerhouse as a unheated coldframe (working very well as such) but it is full to busting.

I assume as you can start them in a nursery bed outdoors they are quite hardy.

Thanks
Sheila

yes they are hardy..do the standing out in the day back at night thing for a few days, just so you don't give them too much of a shock...then out they go :)

Whew that's a relief. I haven't grown leeks for so long I've forgotten when they start to look like, well, leeks
