Plasic greenhouse cover help
« on: June 06, 2009, 17:26 »
Since I got my wonderful plastic greenhouse early this spring it has already gained several tears. I bought some repair tape which did the job but at the rate new rips keep appearing it will have more tape than polythene. All I can think is the wind is doing it. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement, preferably one that is more durable ?

I've seen replacement covers in Homebase.  Don't know if they are more durable though.

I wonder if it was UV stablised. Try http://www.allplas.co.uk/

How about a spot of DIY and buying some uv stabilised polythene and running your own up with a little more or less give to the wind? Other than that i'd suggest large bandage tape on the inside and out to repair big rips. Perhaps a few stitches to keep the gash closed as well could help at stopping them getting bigger in the wind.

Using lateral thinking - could you re-site in a less windy position?

I have a cover that came off my polytunnel thingy. its a green and clear type but not sure of dimensions. The tubular legs on mine ended up getting bent in a storm last year, but think the cover will be ok, will check at the weekend, if so would this be any good to you?
Staffies are softer than you think.
