When gardening shows talking about mulching with organic matter, that do they mean, what is organic matter :?:

so if coal/oil are an organic matter of sorts,does that mean soot from caol fires is also organic???

 Errr - Use soot if you want to but I think you are pushing it if remaining organic is important to you.   Using your logic, napalm would be organic being a mixture of naphthalene and diesel !!!   :shock:  :shock:  :shock:

organic .... isnt fossil fuels organic then...... we used soot for years on us gardens over Christmas  cos the sweeper ( flueologist   ) used to come n do em before we lit winter fires along with pigeon poop and waste hops the  night toilet spoil which had been emptied  into  a brick/cement tank all year then it had a load straw shoved in with it and stirred up in september , grew blooming great toms the next year
