 I thought it would be too late to plant.

Most plants can be started off well before your soil is ready. You will need some bought compost and any old containers you can find, I use butter substitute pots, yoghurt pots, polystyrene cups for larger stuff like beans. Anything I can put compost in and make drainage holes.

Get the seeds started and then get your soil dug, that way your plants get a head start.

So I could buy some lettuce and salad plants now and also pot up some seeds for later in the summer ??
