Some great ideas here, thanks everyone.  Out of coincidence someone was asking for plants on freecycle yesterday so I have offered her some.  I have also offered some to friends and family so that will get a few more shifted!

I am tempted by the idea of selling at car boot sales to make back money to pay for pots, seeds and compost and may try that next year when I know that my sowings have borne fruit (or veg!)

Funny but the local offspring and family eat anything I can grow so long as it's not cabbage or swede or runner bean.  ::) So there are no spares!

I had too many last year and tried to give away as many as possible.
This year I have deliberately grown extras to sell at car boot and try to get back the cost of seeds. I have done the same as p00r student and worked out the individual cost although after seeing the extremely poor specimens on offer at Focus for 99p at the week end I may put up the price  :D :D

First off, try friends, family, neighbours, colleagues, allotment-neighbours, and anyone else you know personally.  In particular, if there's anyone you know who can't keep their garden up for whatever reason, ask if they'd like you to help out (maybe in exchange for a share of the crop, maybe just for good karma).

Then try Freecycle, asking local charity shops if they sell plants, a sign in the front garden (sale or free to good homes as you see fit), car-boot sales, and other ways to distribute them in your community.

Failing that, try sowing fewer next year!

Last year I grew far too many toms, ended up popping outside free to good homes.  This year only set 3 seeds per tom that I wanted, still have 2 of each too many.  Planted out me broad beans yesterday ( always start off in green house) Had 10 too many, popped out with a sign 10p a pot ( 2 in a pot)  A lady came by & gave us a quid!!!!!  Toms will go out next weekend 10p each!!!

Well, the toms went out last weekend & a chap gave me 2.50 for the 10. So 25p each.
He said it was half the price of a bloke round the corner ::)  Wanted to know if I had any courgettes!!!! Fraid I don't like them, but maybe for next year to sell ;)

Neighbours & family. I get horse muck delivered to the door by one of them in exchange!

Church coffee mornings - Raised £300 one year, (on top of afore mentioned give-aways).
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
