You can, of course, plant a Montana (or anything else) in a tub, which will greatly reduced the growth.  A bit like growing a Bonsai.  I am not telling anybody what they should or should not grow. What I write is only from experience.  Everybody is free to make their own choices. Mrs Bouquet

I've got Montanas growing in pots & they're doing fine so far & it does stop them getting out of control, although I do love to see them when they're huge, great for over garages & sheds & possibly gasworks  :nowink:  There's a 12 foot chain link fence at the back of my allotment & I've stuck one in there too, I'll be planting a honeysuckel just now to keep it company & attract pollinators to the plot.

Just let them go..... if it gets too much you can eventually take out the shears and go wild.... they usually recover the following year.... ours did.

Mine seem fine in a pot.  We inherited it when we moved here four years ago.  About  month before March I read it likes to be cut right down so I did that and gave it somechicken pellets.  Now it is stacked with more buds than ever before, so must of done something right.  Don't go hacking it about though till you looked it up might of just been a fluke for me.
