Runner Beans ????
« on: May 15, 2007, 21:44 »
Hi,
As some of you will have read I got my Lottie (Amazonian RainForest) last week.
I have been given some Runner Bean seeds and intend to give them  a try.
I know that ideally I should have a well manured trench prepared etc,
but this season is just a preparation for me for next year.

I have been told that I should firstly soak my bean seeds in water for 24 hours before I put them into pots.
It doesn't seem right to drown the blighters before I plant them is this right?

Thanks fatbelly.

You can pre-sprout on damp kitchen paper too.  But search for posts by Aidy containing halo blight.

im new to growing but i have tried these methods and they all worked.

1. seed into compost/pot no soaking.

2. soaking between wet carpet for a day. (left some for too long but they were ok in the end.

3.  planting straight into wet ground.

ive nearly filled my poles up and they all seem to be doing ok....so far
