Hi there. its me  :shock:

Due to not having a greenhouse I will be making a simple wood frame and covering it with clear plastic and then fixed to the back of the shed. say, 2 feet deep x 6ft x 6ft with a sloping bit on top.

Im potentially looking at 18 plants (if they survive).... question is, if i make a long window box type thing to put some of them in, how many plants could I expect to fit in a 6 foot long box?

Firstly, there's no reason why they shouldn't survive - climate wise anyway!  I grow some tomatoes in the greenhouse, as they obviously come in earlier, but the vast majority of mine are grown direct in the soil on the plot, with no sheltering.

The usual recommended spacing for toms is 18", so you'll just about get 5 in a 6' box. If they are smaller, hanging type tomatoes, you may be able to squeeze a couple more in. I grew 3 in a hanging basket last year quite successfully.

I always thought 6' boxes were themselves buried, not used to bury things in. :shock:  :shock:  :shock:  :shock:
