Hi all,

I have been using folded newspaper to line my nestboxes, topped with a generous amount of straw to give the girls a little luxury to sit in.  However, for the past couple of days I have found the straw thrown around inside the coop and the paper in various states of being shredded, so that some girls are sitting on a thin layer of newspaper.  Just wondered if I should ditch the newspaper and perhaps put a layer of wood shavings in the bottom, topped with some straw.  Anyone else had this problem?  Suggestions would be appreciated.

When I used straw.  The girls used to like making up there beds while laying eggs and in bed.  I would find it all over the place in and out of the coop.  Even the girls would wear it as some sort of accessory   I therefore gave up and put them on shavings.
It all down to you and your girls.  Do not use hay though or hayledge and Grannie started a thread about straw one mo

I've only ever used wood shavings, nothing else and they've been fine with that.
