Thank you for the reassurance, nice to know I'm doing OK.

Yeah, the paper pots have cauli in, I also have some with another cabbage (forgot which variety though, I have the packet somewhere though) and some more with sprouts in, they were sown March 8th and took an age to germinate, but finally poking through.

The old washing up bowl contains my first sowing of salad leaves.  So looking forward to this year (my first full year)

This is so exciting to read. Does that make me odd? I got my over grown, heavy clay, underwater plot in November. Progress is slow but, I read threads like this and the urge to go down there and start work becomes unable to resist.

Congrats to you all, thank you for the inspirations... off to get dressed and get growing :D

I transplanted my toms and chillis this week and they were a tad drawn but nothing a bit of burying them a bit deeper when transplanted won't sort out :)

Well, successfully potted up the best of the bunch, as deep as I could and there were no casualties (not so far anyway). There were certainly lots of good root growth but having now seen some nursery pepper seedlings I totally see how drawn mine and how spot on DD was. I have learned how important it is to get plenty of good light on the suckers from very early on. (I even wonder about getting a fancy overhead light next time but that's probably overkill.)

I will try to take some piccies tomorrow and/or failing that, when and if they gain some girth and foliage. Might be useful to someone somewhere at some point.

I also got some spuds in, some container leeks (Jolent, for mini use), some oriental CCA and some mixed European lettuce (also probably for CCA use).

Gawd, I really enjoyed myself doing all this. I have definitely got the bug!

Lee - your tom seedlings look very similar to mine. I'm keeping most of mine indoors still (probably till towards the end of April, in front of a south-facing window, or at least till we have consistent 10 degrees at night), but have put a small 'sacrificial' tray overnight tonight in my plastic greenhouse under fleece to see what happens. I had more germinate than I was expecting so I can afford to lose those if it comes to it. 3 of my Ildi seedlings are in the greenhouse in their final 12" pots under cut-off water bottles instead for a bit of extra protection/experiment; I may bring those back in at night depending on how it goes with the weather, but I do have back-ups. It's the first year I've grown toms from seed, so I'm still working out how it goes with my current situation. I must admit, if I had a heated greenhouse they'd still be in there, but DH is making noises about wading through a jungle of seed trays and pots in the livingroom, and the coffee table hasn't been seen for weeks. We work with what we have :)

Thats what I will be doing next week Jules a little experiment with some of the toms.  I have 9 gardeners delight and about the same amount of romas so can sacrafise two of each and see how they go.  I put mine in the summer house which is all glass at the front like a glorified cold frame.

Tried the same with my french marigolds two weeks ago and they are fine they look very healthy.......even though people thought I was to early to sow my marigolds, and that they would be blooming by now,  they will be just as if buying garden ready plants from the nursery.  Did the same with the sweetpeas.
