Compost?

I think putting any 'pernicious' perrenial weed root into compost is asking for trouble, inc. couch, Bindweed, minor or major, Mares Tail, creeping Thistle, Nettle, Dock, Dandelion. They got to be such a pest by being so resilient.  Better to remove from the site, or, dry out & incoporate into a bonfire when they will at least return some conditioning for the soil.
......straight lines are for tidy minded people.....

In the case of mares tail, the weed should be placed in a bag and then buried under concrete on the plot of someone you really don't like!

Ha !....you dead right there !!.....truth is, if you keep at it 'on top' with the Hoe, it gets fed up & goes away to find someone else to annoy ! I don't actually think it likes constantly worked ground.  Mind you....turn your back & it's back.

I'm afraid I used Amicide on plot 29. Half was covered in mares tail and I mean covered.

Still get the odd shoot popping up but I can cope with them.

Still, I think Amicide is the most environmentally friendly weedkiller - chemical is simple and it is totally understood.
