hi,

just read your post and you seem to be slowly getting rid, I live on a farm so understandable that we have rats though they are kept to very low numbers, we use all methods from the dog/cat, gun and traps.  my main reason for replying is try and change the bait that you use a little, I,ve found that once a few rats have been snapped with peanut butter the trap becomes useless unless bait changed,

I agree with the other posters with respect that rats should be killed and not caught and released,

rats are pests and once caught like squirrels etc they have to be dispatched of by law. as far as dogs are concerned i have a terrier that i use for rattin and ive got some up the top of my garden under the shed she cant get them! she stays up there for hours ha bless. get a cheap air rifle for bout £5o good fun too ive shot no end bit of mars bar or beef spred on toast with tent peg through and wait!!
