Not seen one for a while.. what to plant now?
« on: March 21, 2009, 14:22 »
Hi, not been around much, but now my baby girl is nealry 3 months I am starting to think about planting.
I have loads of seeds from the Wytvale sale, but every year I heed you guys advice not to plant too early, but I am keen to maximize the season. I only have a tiny poly green house and some poundland ploytunnel cloches.
Can i put lettuce in the ground now? spring onions. i have pots to gert in.

scuse typos, feeding baby.xx

If your soil is warming up to the touch (and not just the very surface - it should feel warm when you dig your fingers in a bit), then start sowing stuff like radishes, lettuce, spring onions, etc..  If there are frosts on the way, cover the seedlings with cloches or fleece overnight.  You can start things like summer/autumn cabbages and peas in the mini-greenhouse, so long as it doesn't get too hot during the day.
