I have access to an unlimited amount of woodchippings from fresh to well rotted,would the rotted be any good to dig into soil that hat has not been cultivated for years and needs breaking down ?

I have obtained some wood chippings from a fellow plot holding friend, from when she had a tree cut down in her garden.

The tree surgeon warned her against using it for mulch on allotment, as it could cause a risk of (I think) honey fungas?! (it was a while ago when she told me).

Anyway, I am going to use it for paths but not on the beds.

Don't know if that risk was specific to the tree in question, or a general comment, but worth looking in to before using.
