I bought two bulbs which I plan to put in pot/s... Firstly, if I use a big pot say 18" x 16" should I plant them in the one, ( for a better effect)?

Secondly it say's on the packaging to plant out in May, after all likelihood of frost has gone, but I was looking as some in the garden centre today and it said on those that you could plant them out now..

What do you reckon?

They prefer to be pot-bound so I would plant them in two smaller pots or one bigger one, as you suggest.

I don't know whether different varieties have different degrees of frost-hardiness.  I have one in a pot which has survived the last few winters outside, protected against the house wall.

I don't plant them here because they're not too winter hardy and I can't be bothered bringing in loads of stuff in fall. UK winters with lots of protection and/or winter mulch should be okay.
