Hi All,

Seems to be the tie of the year for Asparagus to be delivered, this is a good two or three weeks earlier than I had planned!

I am panicing a bit as I have not dug my plots for them yet!  I have had the area covered in couple of inches of manutre and black brweathable plastic for 6 months and uncovered it last weekend.  There are a few weeds to get out and I need to dig some compost in.

not ideal I know but I am hoping that it will beok, i have plenty of guides of how to dig the beds and plant the crowns.

Any advice please , will the asparagus keep until the weekend?

Open the packaging so that the air circulates or they might rot if there is condensation. They will keep for several weeks like this if in a cool place. If they seem dry at planting soak them in a bucket of water first.

if you have time/compost put them all in pots with compost in. Mine arrived in the autumn/winter and have been in pots since then and I now have spears appearing.

Ok, thanks guys, i was planning on taking a half day for some urgent digging but work has dictated otherwise so this is good news.
