I am off to pick up some free soil thanks to ebay at the weekend to fill my raised beds. My beds are pretty big - 2.5m x 1.25m and 22cm deep, and I have filled a couple of inches depth with various multi purpose composts that were in the garden and will add the soil and mix it all up.

The question I have, not actually having seen this soil, is should I add a fertiliser as well and if so what would you recommend please?

I am planning to grow a variety of crops, salads, beans, peas, courgettes praps some spuds if thats any help

Add blood, fish & bone (organic) or growmore (non organic) then at the end of the season you can add manure and compost as it becomes available to improve it.

Its a bit of a trek so altho free I've had to bribe OH with a tank of diesel and some fish and chips cos its by the sea!!
