I'm new to the site and also gardening.  I've not got a plot yet and i've been waiting ages (well 6 weeks is ages to me).  I've just been told i will be given my plot (Yay) in April.

My question is, can you grow sweet potatoes up north in the UK? And how do i do it?

Any other helpful hints, tips and advise would be useful too.  I've never grown anything before - apart from penicilin when i went on holiday and left something in the fridge for 2 weeks (does that count?).

Incidentally, you need a new map if you think you are "up North in the UK"!

Sorry but you said UK and that has gone up as far as Shetland since 1603.

    Don't throw out the pre-1603 map.  Could be worth a bit on eBay!
