Chitting
« on: January 27, 2009, 17:46 »
Hi All, like the new look! Pretty swanky I recon.

Just recieved my seed potatoes and was wondering about when I need to start chitting them. How long and where should I store them before starting chitting.

Any advice on when to plant would also be very much appreciated.

Varieties include, Aaron Pilot, Wilja, Maris Piper and Rooster.

Cheers.

If you have a look at this thread, it answers many chitting questions, but essentially it takes about 6 weeks to chit; I'd put all the spuds in at once; and I normally wait until late March to mid April to plant - so calculate  backwards from that

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
