I made cake with my fresh eggs yesterday  :D   I love poached fresh eggs though as the white holds together just beautifully.  I run a B & B and my poached eggs have never been so well behaved

Hi! I have found too that fresh eggs in baking really does make the difference, poached/scrambled eggs are FANTASTIC when egg only 1 or 2 days old (my children and hubby had 2 each this morning!) but unfortunately I have become intolerant to eggs! NOT FAIR!
However, I am loving spending time with my girls, and far too much time 'chatting/reading' on these wonderful pages!
My husband reckins he's a 'chicken widow'!    I'm usually a 'footie widow.'
Hellooo! I am new to this site and relatively new to keeping chickens but what fun we are having! would love more and hubby coming around to my way of thinking! Kids in love with them!

I find I am spending too much time chatting to them! booerk booerk from Betty means she's not sure about stuff and book book from whitwhit means she's going to jump up and steal the treats. I go down for a quick visit to check water, feed and eggs and all of a sudden the day's gone! Customer's are phoning and all I've got to show for it is a couple of eggs and muddy wellies, never been happier! Nic.

Seems to take me half a day to go round my 7 chicken sheds (sometimes 8!) to let everyone out, feed and water them, chat to them, in the afternoon give them a little treat sometimes, then put them away at night and say goodnight to them all!

My brother phoned once just as I was going out to put them away, and as it was dark, I wanted to do it quick, so I took the phone with me.  As I said goodnight to all the chooks, my brother said who are you talking to?  The chickens I told him.  Now he thinks I'm nuts because I talk to my chooks, why is that different to talking to the dog or the cat???
