Maybe a good idea to just give a few extra mins checking out our fox defences in our runs and henhouses  this weekend  :D

This fella wasn't easy to spot but I am sure he had been watching me,have to say he looked pretty healthy

Hard to believe from looking at them that they can kill so wantonly. If they only killed what they ate i think they could be easily forgiven.

hi mum of stig :D foxes are interesting and actually if they could they would eat all their kill. However, only have a small capacity to digest food unlike cats and dogs, so basically what they do is store their kills by burying them and dig them up later.
Anyway, the purpose of this thread was only to remind peeps - I hadn't seen one for a while so better safe then sorry!-like I am just about to go and check my fences (again!!!) :D

i check mine twice a day , when i let the girls out in the morning its always dark but i shine the torch all the way round the main fencing . its weird really as i know we have plenty of foxes here surrounding the allotments etc but i have never seen one on the grounds of the allotments in al the years i have lived here .

Their existing "routes" probably have enough food/prey to sustain them. :D

I have a big dog fox prowling around here at the moment. Have seen him a few times now. I know he is just waiting for me to make a mistake and not shut a pen properly or leave one out.
I saw him at midnight the night before last round my chicken pens very casually sniffing around.
I am on my guard and dare not let any of the banties out at the minute

There are three signs of old age. The first is your loss of memory, the other two I forget.
