storing seed potaoes for chitting

are they ok left in the net bags they were purchased in ?
 do they need to be kept in the dark and frost free until around the end jan then  given light for around 6 weeks to chit before planting out early may  :?:

Get them out of the bag asap, it'll only knock off the chits as they grow through, like you say keep them in the dark but frost free till the end of Jan, then get them into the light but again frost free  :D

Salmo said : It does not matter whether they are in light or dark so long as they are kept cool until you want to start chitting. I would be inclined to remove the towell as it might encourage mould.

So does the dark or light  matter ? I'll take them out of the nets tomorow !

And if light or dark dosen't affect them how do I delay the chitting until the end of jan ?

It's the temperature that has the deciding factor keep the cool, I personally keep mine in the dark until I want to start chitting them.

I was speaking to my brother last night and he always keeps his spuds in the greenhouse (unheated) prior to chitting.
