Little known tax relief about to expire
« on: January 15, 2009, 20:12 »
My Aunt from the States dropped me an email today telling me about an article she'd read on the Daily Mail website about some thing called Children's Tax Credit Relief. Now I knew nothing about this and wondered how many others don't.

May be worth a look if you had children under 16 between 2001 - 2003

I would be so careful about any type of tax credit now.  We applied and after our accountants had filled in the forms for us we were awarded £90 a week.  Lovely.  Then after two years and forms again filled in by our accountants we were told we had been overpaid and we ended up owing them more than they had paid us.  So just be very careful is my advice.

i stumbled across this on sunday, have downloaded the form and will apply - could be around 400 quid - apparently everyone who has kids born between the years stated should get something unless it has already be refunded to you - interestingly, they keep £94 for administration costs and you dont get the interest   - hmmmmmmm
how much could i charge for my administration  :?: (ie stumbling across it when the mony is mine, not theirs, filling in the form, walking to the postbox etc etc)
just keep breathing................

I've tried this one, charging an admin fee, only over the phone though, never got around to sending an invoice. Told the company due to their lack of admin I was having to do their job for them, if they didn't sort it out I would invoice them for my time spent doing their job.

I reckoned that £300/ hr   was a fair price, my time they were wastsing & it was a Saturday.

It did seem to buck them up a bit, and the problem was sorted the next week. :D

No idea if I had this at the time. I think we had any tax relief we were due but I'll try claiming anyway.

Form is here to print out and claim yourself.

It does mention if you're claiming for both years, to read the notes, but I've yet to find those. Will report back if I locate them :)

Thanks Rich. :)

Same here poultrygeist,

I dont think the note exist. Printed the form from the internet, then found we had no notes, so decided to ask for the form to be sent out. Form arrives and still no notes. Have filled it in best we could, and fingers crossed.

You can phone you tax office up and ask if you have had this, save time filling out a form if you have already had it

Richy, thanks for sharing this information, and thank your Aunt for us.  IR have a habit of not informing people what they are entitled to until the very last minute when it is too late for you to get your forms in.
