rather foolishly ordered some autumn bliss & strawberry plants yesterday, thinking they wouldn't arrive until after Christmas - nope - they're coming tomorrow!!!!!!!
How can I break it to OH that he has to help me dig a strawberry bed tomorrow and erect raspberry supports 2 days before Christmas instead of cleaning the house & food shopping

Quickest way to prep a strawberry bed then????????  or could I heel straws & rasps in until March and then move them to final positions?

Why oh Why do I do this???????

I was out of work at the time I got a load of plants and then got a job and started the next day     So I hurriedly put individual strawberry plants & raspberry canes into pots and overwintered them to plant out in spring.  The pots were close to the house against the south facing wall to reduce the risk of frost damage (though they must have got frozen during heavy frosts), and they all turned out perfectly fine (apart from mixed up labels see http://www.chat.allotment-garden.org/viewtopic.php?t=27789)
