I have an allotment! Its a squre patch of grass that has a huge bonfire size mound of old plants, but I love it! Forgot to take the camera but will get a pic soon.
My 2 year old daughter was even more impressed than I was and tried to kiss the grass!
Let the hard work begin!!! All I need now is a fork and spade, a shed and huge amounts of knowledge!
Ex battery hens were the perfect choice!

Knowledge is overated, you need a bit of brute force and ignorance!

Congrats on the plot, great feeling when you can actually get your hands on it.

Congratulation's,it's a great feeling when you first start.

The addiction only gets worse the longer you have the plot though.

Sounds good...your daughter is obviously getting a bit ahead of herself - make sure she knows it's best to wait for something yummy to grow before getting her mouth near it!  How big is the plot?

Hi there Kaye, I bet you are really excited now,  I know I would be.  Where abouts in E. Sussex are you.  Regards, Mrs Bouquet

Thanks for all the encouragement!
If all it comes down to is brute force and ignorance I should be ok!
Tora will be a big help with digging stuff up but I'm not so sure she can be trusted with growing plants, she is a very heavy handed girl and Gollum (my cat) would testify to that!

I'm not sure of the measurements of my plot but I'm sure I will work it out soon. It looks huge to me but I think it is smaller than some others.

Kaye :D

Oh yes, Mrs Bouquet I am from Rye. Do you know the area at all?

Congrats Kaye!!

Start em young! We've a 6yr old and a 4yr old and they are becoming a great help on the plot (after the initial 'do we have to go to the allotment...' moan!)

Looking forward to seeing the pics

BTW My advice would be get a shed as soon as, somewhere to store the tools so you don't have to lug them about (like we did for two years, mind you it was worth the wait the shed was free!) then you can then spend even more time there having somewhere to shelter... :D

All the best with it

Richard
