funny-looking crab apples
« on: November 11, 2008, 18:45 »
hullo,

we were out foraging the other day and came back with about 2 kilos of crab apples. i want to make chutney out of them but they look a bit off-putting. most of them have little brown/black spots on. i've scratched a few and they seem fine under the skin, but i'm not sure if they are edible. and if they are edible, i'm hoping the skin blemishes won't mean they will need to be peeled... imagine peeling that lot

can anyone advise? i'm attaching a couple of piccies:

That would be it!!!! Wild trees don't get 'pampered' with sprays and insecticides, so will be a lot less pretty!!  :D  :D
