We have just been allocated an allotment 5 poles only as there is great demand for these plots. It is over grown and has lots of bramble roots. they have said they will plough then rotivate ,is this a good idea? or should be do it the hard way digging then putting it in a pile to break down. Any other advice about turning my allotment into something productive would be great.  thanks for the advice in advance

If they will plough and rotovate the plot let them do so.

You will still have to dig it over and remove the roots but at least it will be broken up.

i as Salmo says let them do it, Bramble is pretty easy to clear as the roots are shallow and don't go deep, it's what else is in there that might prove a problem but at least you have a few months weather permitting to get the worst bit over.
