Step by step making a 'Tee Pee' suitable for a broody.

Here are some of the Tee Pees that I made a couple of years ago, so at least now you know what we are making.

Unfortunately, you are only going to get the first two steps in this sitting, but when completed these Tee Pees are ideal for housing  broodies and chicks.

Step one. Cut yourself a piece of 3/4 inch shuttering ply, dimensions 32" x 24"

This is going to be the floor of the structure. We now need to add some weight and stability to it. We do this, by nailing some timber to one side of the board. This is going to be the side that actually sits on the floor.  As well as adding stability, this will also help to keep the floor dry by lifting it off the ground.

The next step, is to cut two more pieces of ply. These will form the two ends of the tee pee and should measure 34" x 24" The 34 being the height.

Now to cut them out. This is a picture of what you need to end up with.

The top of the pyramid is four and a half inches wide and the the shoulders at the bottom are two and a half inches long.

Now you need to cut an entrance in one of the ends. This is ten inches wide and thirteen inches high.

Now take the base and nail the ends onto it like this.

Now you need a thicker piece of timber about four and a half iches by two and a half. You need to cut a length thirty two inches long. This is the same length as the base. This piece of wood you fix betwee the two ends like this.

The next stage, is to cut two pieces of ply thirty three inches square. These are the two sides and at the weekend, I'll be able to finish the project.

Better late than never.     I finally finished the Tee pee today.     I nailed the sides on and then added a piece of ply to the top to keep everything nice and dry. I then painted the whole lot with some of my specialy hoarded  creosote. Don't you just adore the smell ?   :D

If I can do it, console yourself with the thought that anyone can

Richy, never interrupt a tease in full flow. It only makes them worse.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.
