dumb question about protecting veg
« on: November 13, 2008, 16:25 »
I have several raised veg beds.  I plan to protect the lettuce and seedlings but should other plants such as courgettes, beans and currant bushes be OK once they are a decent size?

I expect this is going to be the first of a series of dumb questions.

Not sure about courgettes but you'll need to protect anything you want to survive. They will eat anything thats not nailed down and they can reach, before I cleared the patio mine stripped every plant up to 4ft.  Above that you may be ok... but I wouldn't think you'll get any produce from below.

I'd say no, even if they didn't eat them, the chickens would do their best to scratch them out.
