Overwinter Onions
« on: November 11, 2008, 21:30 »
Do any of you growers set onion seed in autumn and overwinter them to get an early start,or longer growing season, next year. If so what variety do you grow? ( Main crop, not the japanese varieties.)
I grow Kelsae and they're fantastic. Most bulbs over 2lb in weight and just like giant spanish onions. I plant seed in january under glass and transplant outside in april when conditions are right.

Well I think show growers do it or if youre trying to get very large ones. I know that forum member Dan (vegmandan) does.

He has a website were he keeps a diary:
