What would I gain by starting garlic off in little 3 inch pIots ? I have read it somewhere.

I plant mine in re-cycled polysterene salmon boxes and re-cycled plastic fishboxes in an open cold frame. I use Ukrainian garlic which I aquired from my sister-in-law and is planted out now . It  starts off  slow so therefore you get bigger bulbs and its ready for harvesting in May/June. The reason for planting in boxes is the heavy rainfall we get up here in the "Far North".

Hi I put my garlic seed cloves in about 2 weeks ago when they were delivered and i've already got 24 little shoots showing. So they had better be hardy with the weather that's forecast :shock:

Seriously tho the instructions said plant them on receipt.
