Hi,

Does anyone know if Poultry Shield kills the mites instantly or not? I know it does'nt kill the eggs and have been told to apply again within the week to kill off the new hatchings of mites.

By the way, taking the advise of my poultry breeder I loosened as many of the joints of my hen house before applying. The sight of the mites in between these joints was shocking. :x  I was a very good piece of advise. I knew they likes small spaces to hide but was very much a surprise!

Hi weedo.

No, it takes 2 or 3 days to have a proper effect I think. And then it won;t get all of them.

Some people suggest filling the joints with silicone or filler so they can't get in there.

It's not just in the joints they hide in their millions either, any tiny tiny crack or crevasse in the wood.  When I first saw them last year, I couldn't believe just how small they are and how many you can get in such a small space.  We even had millions of them in between the metal or our new posh nest boxes that I thought would be immune!!
