onion weeds

Right, on the attempt of an onion plot I had this year, actually we got plenty of onions and some weren't a bad size though it did get a bit overgrown but it was a rush job just to get some stuff in.  There are some funny looking weeds, which I have been digging up today.  They are always near an onion and not on any other part of the plot.  They look a bit like a lettuce and have a velvety feel to them.  What are they?  They are easy enough to dig up but there was lots of the *.

Hello.

Not sure if they are the same without looking but on my plot where I put my onion sets in each plant seems to have created a nice space for a comfrey weed to come up around it.  They spread like wildfire!

I would be interested to know why this happens.

hmmmm that has got me thinking, no idea at the moment.  What do the flowers look like or have you not seen any yet.

Does look a lot like comfrey to me.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

No flowers and don't think it's comfry, very light green leafs and it almost seems to heart up.  The leafs are very soft to touch. Dug them all up now....
