[Fenland Girl]

We have just acquired a lovely light sussex bantam cockerel - a colleague of my OH asked him to cull it for her as she couldn't keep it, but he is so nice we decided to introduce him to our ladies! My question is, will he be OK eating the layers pellets we give the hens? Or is this specifically for layers only? If so, what should we feed him?  :?

I honestly don't know but if he's in with the hens I don't think you could feed him separate any way, can't see layers would be detrimental to his health.

I agree,  it's hard to keep them away from each others food (the growers and the layers) and Patrick just helps himself to whatever is on offer  :roll:

I didn't know it made a difference what they eat (cockerels yes, i know when to use growers rather than chick crumb etc). I'm sure cockerels can figure out a way of burning off that excess energy
