Onions- when do I pull them?
« on: September 09, 2008, 10:17 »
My Red Baron onions are a complete range of sizes though so far none of the leaves are dying back .
Bearing in mind the terrible weather of late and the fact that we are well into Sept., when is the best time to pull them out the ground in order to dry and store them.
Thanks for your reply.

onions have been hit badly by wet this year . we had to pull ours early due to this so if they have a bulb thats usable then pull and lay them in a dry breezy place on racks or something to dry  try to turn them over every couple of days so that the air gets to all of them,  dont over lap leaves if you can . when the leaves get crispy and fall away store them in open weave sacks or baskets use any up that show signs of rot first
